No. 800 Smoothing Plane
The No. 800 is a smoothing plane with a 9-1/8 inch sole including the heel tab and is the same size as the premium No. 8 plane. To date, only a limited number of examples have been found. Based on the cheek stamp and the stamps on the body, frog, and iron, it is believed this plane was in production during the early 1950’s. More examples are needed to determine how long it was in production. The No. 800 follows the same features as the No. 900 with a one-piece lever cap, no frog adjustment, and using birch hardwood for the knob and tote with a black lacquer finish.
This No. 800 has the same features as the No. 900 type 2C with the black frog and the model number stamped on the cheek.
This plane was purchased in England. More examples are needed to document the history.
This plane may have been produced in the early 50's based on the features found on the No. 900 line.
No frog adjustment and black stained hardwood knob and tote.
The 267 casting number on the lever cap is unique to this plane.
